Parking For Money Bags

Do you ever feel like everyone thinks you have an unlimited supply of cash? I don't know about you, but I do. I can understand some things take money to run. But the one thing I really have a hard time paying for is parking. Parking at UVU is obviously an issue. If you want to even park in a UVU parking lot, you must either pay the $50 per semester, or $80 per school year fee, or just suffer the consequences if you end up getting a ticket. To put this into perspective, the neighboring school, BYU, has many more students than UVU, and offers their parking for free. All you have to do is register your car and you can receive your free parking pass. UVU on the other hand charges to allow students to park at a school they are already paying tuition for. Are you wondering how much UVU might be making off of this? Well, lets say there are 4,000 people at UVU that pay for a parking pass this year... that's 320,000 dollars every year! Not to mention these students are paying for a parking pass just to drive up and down the rows of cars struggling to find a parking spot. I understand there are parking lots that are free but many of us are traveling to or from work and don't have the time to wait for the bus or take a 20 minute walk to class. UVU, if you are listening, please help!

  1. i agree with your comment. The problem I have is I have a year pass and now they won't let me add a car to my pass for my son without paying $50 for a semester.
