Politics
So it seems in today's world to get a lot of things done you need to be on the inside somehow. Whether it be on a sports team, a job, getting on the good side of one of your professors, or whatever it may be, you need to have a connection. Connections seem to be a key point to making some of these things happen anymore. Example: When I moved down here I tried and tried to find a job for a good six weeks before finally having any success. The only reason I feel like I got the job I have right now is because I knew the general manager beforehand. He totally hooked me up and saved my first semester here at UVU. Although its unfair, its life. Lets be honest. All through high school I saw people make the sports teams, receive leadership positions, and obtain "special awards" because their older brother or sister had done a good job prior to them obtaining the position. All of the time over qualified people get turned down due to the world of politics. So what do you do about that? I guess you've got to start somewhere right? Everyone starts at ground zero sometime in their life huh.
